Ok - I’m sure some will balk at this but I am an avid mountain biker and this is my daily driver. I have roof racks and they are a pain. Found a solution for a hidden hitch behind the license plate. Ordered this - www.gururack.com from Miami - worked with Oliver. Being shipped to me now.

Steps will be to get the new modified rear bumper and swap with the one on my car. This was done with a core for a 991.2 rear bumper bar.

This was the only way I got my bike to a ride - looking forward to the new way.

@Davesnums

I for one will say that I think this is a brilliant design idea. :thumbup: I'm all for using these cars in a utilitarian way if you desire.

I have the roof racks for my 991.2 for a cargo box. Contemplated getting the bike rack adapters so I'm curious what was it about them that you thought to be a pain?

Also, Just curious what the total cost is for this new setup is including a 991.2 bumper core?

Cost was 800 (700 for a self-install) and the core fee was 250 - or you could supply your own. Upon return of the core you get back the 250. Also - about 200 in shipping 2 ways. Would save quite a bit of money if you were local to Miami, FL.

As a matter of fact, I am somewhat local so that's nice. Just to be clear, they only do the hitch, and they don't provide you with the bike rack, correct? What's the weight rating on the hitch? Obviouisly not wanting to tow a camper. Just curious.

Okay everyone - so I have the hitch installed - I did this myself - took about 3.5 hours - main work was removal of the rear bumper. Now that I know how would probably take me more like 2 or 2.5 hours. Already returned the core and received a prompt refund of the core deposit. Oliver was great at communication - responded quickly - even on the weekend and called me to make sure I understood what I needed to do - great support!

PM me if questions or can direct to www.gururack.com - Oliver is very responsive!

Correct - they supply the hitch receiver - then you can mount you hitch bike rack - I will be using a OneUp Rack. Since I did this my self I was all in for 700 plus the 2 way shipping - another 180 - so 880. And - yes if you don't own a rack you will also need to buy one.

I know it’s not intended but can it pull a small trailer for track spares (tires, Jack, etc)? Also does this take the place of the rear tow point?

Yes - I intend to use it that way for a track day. I have a hitch pin and was thinking I could pull a small trailer to hold a set of race wheels and some tools. But - really small! In terms of rear tow point - yes - this did remove the rear tow hook behind the license plate - so for the track I think you could insert the hitch pin so you have a rear tow hook.
