I wanted to see if anyone is using the Noco battery conditioner and how it's worked for you.

Many people in the 718 Community are using the CTEK MXS 5.0 Battery Maintainer. CTEK makes the Porsche re-branded model as well.

Noco and Ctek are both high quality battery chargers/maintainers . You really can't go wrong with either .

User reports in another forum include comments about the CTEK being better than the NOCO at the recovery process. CTEK would do batteries that the NOCO would deny. Conversely, the NOCO has the ability to push-start a completely dead battery, something the CTEK won't.

----
Disclosure:
I'm a long-time CTEK user, have zero personal experience with the NOCO units. Both Porsche and MB private-label the CTEK maintainers, so guessing they are considered good enough. While shopping for them originally, the choice was between Bosch and CTEK. The CTEK got the nod because it would automatically resume in last mode if power failed. Happens enough with stored vehicles that it was the prime consideration. The NOCO units do the same, coming back to prior mode after power fail.

Covid and not much driving brought several more CTEKs homes so every car could have one, even the 'drivers'. I replaced the battery in the 928 after about a dozen years of service when an SPG health test came back less than perfect. Still started/ran fine with no other symptoms, but batteries are way cheaper and easier to replace than alternators. The car lives connected to the maintainer whenever it's in the garage, a lesson learned early in our stewardship period.

One of the CTEKs developed an interesting internal-relay symptom at a dozen years of service that was pretty easily solved. Else they have been trouble-free. Mine are the US7002's, slightly higher capacity but similar capabilities as the one in the picture.

CTEK has outstanding customer service in addition to offering a superb product. They replaced the DC cord on my Lithium charger for the TTS' LiFePO4 battery at no charge. The damage to the cord was was my fault as I told them but they said no problem. CTEK even paid the return shipping. Impressive in this day and age.

I also use Granite Digital's Save-A-Battery maintainers for AGM and other regular 12v batteries. I've used their products for 15 or so years and cannot say enough good things about them too. I have 4 or 5 of their maintainers that are always hooked up to something, somewhere.

I have NOCO chargers on my Pcar, motorcycles and our boat.
I've never had issues with the chargers or the batteries.
The best charger I have is a Victron charger I use for the lithium batteries in our adventure trailer (they handle fla and agm batteries as well).
That said, ensure whatever you get has a multi-stage charge/maintain/float program. Please do not use a basic "trickle" charger and expect long battery life.

Cheers

Have the CTek Porsche version on my Cayman with no issues and have ye olde Battery Tender on my Viper and the crazy battery in it is about 8+ years old and no dead cells --- so have to say that unit has done quite well. I figured I should get a new battery just due to age but it checked out fine.

I have mine plugged in to a NOCO Genius 5. Never any issues and always in good condition ready to drive.

I have used the NOCO Genius10 for some time, and it's great. I usually leave it in the front boot, and it has done well over two winters so far, and placed on the floor when connected. Plug in and forget. The CTEK's are the gold standard, but the NOCO has been great.

I have a NOCO as well, I think it is the genius 10 but would have to look. I bought it specifically for the reconditioning feature. I like it, works great. I have never used the CTEK so no comment on them.

The battery conditioner does seem to extend the useful life of a battery for a few more years. Thought ultimately on one of my cars the resting voltage became so low after 11 years it started to cause issues.

I wanted to add that do not use it for the trickle charge function, just for the charge and conditioning.
