Question for those that have the newer cayenne with the v8- have you had to add coolant? I’ve had the low coolant warning pop up and had to top off the reservoir twice now. I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t find a leak and pressure tested. SA advised that they do evaporate some coolant. I’m not sure if that’s true or not. Just wanted to ask the brain trust as I have a year on the warranty and I’m debating something new or extended warranty. Car is at 31k miles. Thanks!

The Cayennes do seem to have a history of this -- both the disappearing coolant and dealers saying it's normal until it's obviously not. How often does it need more coolant? And how much?

So far nothing noted here on the '24 S but that doesn't mean much considering fluid top-offs are done whenever the car is in service, so I wouldn't know unless I inquired. I'm going to ask Monday when I pick it up. (Had to have windshield replaced.)

It has 32k miles and I’ve probably put 0.5 gallons on three separate occasions in the 12000 miles. I have smelled coolant before, not often, but it’s there.

I’d ask the dealer to investigate that level of coolant loss further before the warranty expires. Or, at a minimum, get them to document it for the record if they’re telling you it’s normal. A few ounces here and there could be venting or air pockets working their way out, but that much coolant over 12,000 miles, with occasional coolant smell, sounds like a leak to me. It certainly wouldn’t be the first Cayenne with a coolant leak that a dealer said was normal -- until it wasn’t.

That’s what I figured. Have a year left of warranty so I’ll keep a close eye on it. Started thinking about other SUV’s then I drive it and realize nothing at that price point will bring me as much pleasure.

Per my dealer visit today, no coolant loss issues from current gen Cayennes.

Some previous gen Cayennes did suffer from random water pump and other similar coolant issues. (We experienced a pump failure on the 2019 Cayenne Turbo,)

Warranty time! Get 'er fixed.
