I recently performed this procedure. It's a one-day project. Included are some special notes for fitting etc

Many thanks for all your efforts to get this written up Dan. It has become the #1 most important safety item to deal with on the 944 in my opinion. A broken timing belt can bend valve, but a car fire can be truly tragic. Every few months you see reports of another 944 with an engine fire -- just saw one on Facebook last week actually.

I went ahead and added a condensed version of this article in the 944 Handbook to serve as a quick reference. You can find that condensed version here.

Excellent write up!

Has anyone noticed that the aeroquip hoses in the kit permeate a fuel smell if you stick your nose right up to them?

I spoke with Travis at Rennbay and this is normal. It can be a combination of old fuel and the ethanol in fuels. The multilayer aeroquip hose is good stuff
