2011 Turbo S Rear Wing malfunction

OK, this is my first post, so apologies for any errors.....I have a 2011 Turbo S (Black on Black) Center Lock wheels.....Cabriolet....that I love! Recently, I got a warning message that the engine lid was ajar. It only stays on for a few seconds and then goes off. My trusted mechanic stated that it is related to the adjustable rear lift. Upon inspection, the two rods that lift the wing is pitted and has some rust. The solution is to replace with an after market solution that uses a plastic alternative.

OK, I am sure that I am not the only person with the same issue. Please share any advice, direction or comments. As needed, point me in the direction of any other post that can help me.
