I just wanted to share that my ac would only work on setting 4 and removed the rusted resistor. Left in submerged in CLR over night and it came out like new and AC works perfectly now.

Pretty amazing how it removes almost all the rust from the metal. I know white vinegar also works but I had some CLR on hand and it did a great job.

Thanks for this

My HVAC rarely but occasionally also only works on speed 4 and you're prompting me to pull that resistor and clean it

Last time it cut out was a few weeks ago at minus 15*C and it started getting a bit cold lol

What's interesting is when I finally notice the fan isn't on, I turn it to 3 or 4 a few times in succession and it suddenly works in all speeds again. Were you having similar symptoms?

Mine was heavily rusted and only position 4 worked. Circuit was left open. Definetly recommend submerging in vinegar or CLR over night then letting it dry and reinstalling. It will fix your issue. Whatever rust is preventing good contact should be gone.
