Hello All!
After many failed attempts to buy a Porsche for the last 25ish years, I finally pulled the trigger on this 86 944. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986- ... nts-anchor The winning bidder fell through and I was able to make a deal outside of BaT for the car. I fell in love with the 930s as a kid, like a lot of us did, but the price on those is just way out of reach. The goal has been to find a "nice" 944 or 968 that may need a little TLC. I'm no stranger to working on cars. I have an 86 Mitsubishi Starion that I bought back in October of 98 that has been my auto-x and track car forever. I also picked up a 87 Conquest a few years back that is getting an LS swap. Why the draw to the mitsu? I thought it resembled a 944! Looking forward to being part of the forum. I am sure to have questions sooner than later.

To be honest I like the look of the phone dial wheels better. I have quickly learned that the fuchs are quite sought after, so I guess I'll keep them
It has a few little issues to tackle, but it seems to run and drive very well based on the listing and talking extensively with the seller. Timing belt/water pump replacement is the top of the list. The seller didn't know if the pump had been upgraded to the new style, so I can't order parts until I open her up. I should take delivery on Tuesday. I can't wait!!

The fuchs could fund a lot of parts! There aren't many 944's with the original pumps still running. Those are real relics at this stage of the 944 life... I'd go ahead and order all the updated parts. If you have an old style water pump, you'll want to replace it for sure.

I agree with replacing the pump. It's time for sure. I have all the parts in my pelican cart as we speak. Good to know the Fuchs could be an asset! I'm sure they will grow on me

Yeah, maybe I'm swayed by their value, but when I got my 951, I wanted and got the phone dials. Now, 25-30 years later, I love the look of Fuchs on these cars. When I got my car, it was a fairly up-to-date sports car, so wanted it to look 'modern' I guess.
