I'm away and my wife called to ask what the red triangle light is for when she's in reverse but goes out when she put the car in drive. Anyone has any ideas? :problem:

No idea what's occurred, but red warning displays or icons indicate potentially serious issues and should not be ignored.

Is it every time the Cayenne is put in reverse? P285-286 of your Owner's Manual lists some pretty serious trans warning icons but the icon graphics depict 2-gears, not a triangle.

If it's happened more than once I'd get it to a dealer ASAP. It could be something simple like a sensor or a needed reset, but it could also be a whole lot worse where further driving might cause further damage, risking being stranded with a breakdown. Even if the warning only happened once, I'd contact the dealer to let them know and get their input.

Thanks for the reply. I had my wife FaceTime me so I could see the issue my self. It turned out to be the parking brake. Somehow the switch was only partially applied. I had her apply the parking brake button and then release it... problem solved. No idea how the switch could be partially on, but it was a lucky guess and it worked. Appreciate the reply though.

Glad you two got it solved and that it was something minor. That's always the preferred outcome - you can now breathe a big sigh of relief!
