Leather Fuse Panels

I tried searching to buy these online, but pricing was very high (in in USDollars to boot), so I found a local vendor that made these for me and my 992.
It's faux leather, but apparently this wears *very* well and it matches the interior of my car. Besides, it goes down in the kick panel area of driver's and passenger's side and it's surrounded by carpet, so the leather will blend in nicely.



They created the white stitching from a graphics file I developed. The "carrera" logo in particular was difficult to source, since everything online is the older, pre-992 "carrera" font. For some reason the first "9" on 911 got squished...suspect it was incorrect translation from the graphics file into the embroidery machine. I think next time I would opt for a simpler but bigger logo, maybe just the 911 moniker by itself.

Very nicely done! I was going to order some leather ones, but currently have a shop making carbon shells for them... If they don't turn out, I will be going down the leather route...

I wish your shop shipped, I would def get some made!

I recently had to say goodbye to my Carrera 4S after it was flooded in the secure storage facility it winters in.
SO...with that I replaced it with a Carrers 4 GTS.
And, of course, needed to update my fuse panel covers!
I did these myself this time--no upholstery shop.
I sourced from Amazon a faux leather which is an almost dead-on match to the factory interior colour and texture.
These I sent out to an emobroidery shop to stitch the GTS logo I supplied.

Then I did the work, with ChatGPT and Youtube helping me along the way.

• Adhesion promoter/pre-treatment: for getting good adhesion to the HCPP (high crystalline polypropylene plastic which apparently doesn't like glue very much.)

• Masking everything off.

• Generous, even coats of 3M Super Trim on both surfaces.

• Waiting for the proper tack.

• Painter's tape for alignment to help ensure the panel lays flat and true on the GTS logo.

• Using a roller and pressure on the front side, to adhere it before moving to the back-side.

• Heating the vinyl edges before wrapping around to the backside: This was especially important with my 1.1 mm fabric-
  backed faux leather. Warming it reduced the spring-back force significantly.

• Clamping while the adhesive developed strength.

• Trimming the backside after curing instead of before.

Total cost: roughly $20 for the PU leather; $70 for the 3M Super Trim; $15 for the pre-adhesion promoter; $80 for the embroidery work. So about $185..and this in CANADIAN dollars!

Very nicely done! To me it looks as good as anything the factory could have done.

Sorry about the flood loss of your previous C4S - that had to be tough and unexpected. But, congrats on the 4 GTS that took its place.
