Here’s a trivia question for you.

I need a throttle pull rod that is about an inch longer than the stock SC version. This is for my EFI/964 plenum conversion on the SC. According to the parts listings here are the numbers of the versions that were available. Does anyone know the maximum lengths, fully extended, of these parts?

911.423.026.03 - 1970-‘73

911.423.147.00 - ‘74-‘77

911.423.043.00 - ‘78-‘83 SC

930.423.019.02 - ‘78-‘83 Turbo

925.433.026.01 - ‘78-‘83 Sporto

911.423.043.01 - 3.2

Any and all help and suggestions on this would be appreciated. I could just extend the one I have with a short piece of welding rod of course, but I would rather not.

Thanks in advance, Paul

Wish I could help with the part numbers, but in lieu of that maybe I can inspire you to modify yours with these pictures. I have an old Mercedes. After MBZ updated the power steering pump on that car, the little adjuster bolt wasn't long enough to fix anymore. As best I could tell, they never made one in the size needed. So I did this with the original one. I made the fixture in the middle to make sure the bolt remained straight and true. That was several years ago and it's been fine ever since.

That looks like what I may have to doubt my mod will be much easier than yours for sure - no threads. I just need to insert a short piece of welding rod.

Since posting this I had another idea in that there is another section of adjustable length linkage that I might be able to lengthen enough to do what I need. I will look into that today.

I used a cable for my 3.6L between the linkage at the transmission up to the throttle body. This makes it more flexible.

I need to see if I can find a picture.

Here is the picture. These cables are available at hot rod engine suppliers.
