Welcome about. Beautiful car (and interior). I fixed the Panamera spelling, since you mentioned wanting to spell it right... If your version was intentional slang, I can put it back. :)

Hiya Panamera Carpokes! Many thanks for your ideas about securing a PPI prior to purchase. I gathered that my “sweet spot” for the 2012-2016 years wasn’t off (I.e., none said, “stay away from the 2013/14 years) & will take your next step advice to heart. One observation to share is the lack of CPO Panamera listed on the online searches. The purchase price is higher but it likely reflects “you get what you pay for.” Thanks again,
John

It needs to be AWD because I’m in the Midwest adjacent to one of the Great Lakes & my search is for a 970 ( 4/4S) between 2012-2016 which hits my acquisition budget best. I’ve looked nationwide & hit a different wall—how to accept a 3rd party evaluation/inspection. Hopefully my next car will be as (front engine) rewarding as my 968/928/Cayenne experiences. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in advance.

I've no direct experience with PPI evaluations from afar but I agree it is probably the wise thing to do. Excellent ones definitely exist if you can find them. (The hard part!)

Are you planning on seeing the car in person before finalizing the purchase? If so, and if the car has passed all of your preliminary questions to go along with good pics, etc. and you are ready for the next step, you could arrange with the seller and chosen evaluator to have the PPI done at that time. However, that is easier said than done and also assumes you've found a reliable and honest evaluation source.

As far as who to use, the obvious best choice in my opinion would be a franchised Porsche dealer and one of their certified Gold techs. Again, you wouldn't want to spend money on that unless you were certain that the car had passed all of your initial from-a-distance criteria.

Another thought is to go to a local Porsche dealer near where you live and see if they'll work with you and try to find what you seek. Those who are part of a larger dealer group often have greater reach.

By the way, welcome to Carpokes! Thank you for finding us and joining the merry band!

Welcome aboard Carpokes! In addition to Blueline's sound advice, another thing you can do is ask for PPI-shop recommendations from locals online once you know the location of a car. The Porsche community generally can tell you who's good, and who's not so good. The quality and detail of PPI's seems to vary a ton from what I've seen, so worth doing a little homework. I'm not sure a Porsche dealer will do a true PPI anymore. When I sold my 991, the buyer wanted a dealer to do a PPI and all the local dealers said no. I even asked my own dealer (who had serviced it from birth) and they said they just don't offer PPI's. Not entirely sure why, but could imagine it gets awkward when they vouch for a car that turns out to have issues...

Thanks for that info regarding certain Porsche dealers not wanting to do PPI's Tom - I did not know that. Kind of odd but maybe it is the liability thing you touched on or maybe that they want to reserve the service for cars they sell.

That gets me back to giving the dealer a shot to locate and sell the car - incentive and they usually have leads.

Also, maybe a responsive dealer or an in-touch service advisor or technician would be willing to recommend someone or some facility in the general area that they know. That would at least be a start.
