Is the Porsche badge on the header panel of a 944 perfectly flat? Anyone have one (even an ugly one) for sale?
Hi Tom - I have a new one in my garage waiting to go on once paint is done. You can pop over to look at it for reference or I can try to grab the old one on Tuesday at the paint shop.
Pics attached if that helps.

Tom, the Porsche crest badges are convex when new as shown in the pictures above.
It is very common for the badges to become concave on air-cooled 911s as many owners believe the front lid should be closed by using the badge, which eventually smashes it in. It is a pet peeve at our shop---use the backs of your hands on the painted part when closing the lid and there won't be fingerprints.
I have no idea why a 944 front crest would be flat, no reason to push on it!

The header panel is relatively flat.

But the badge is installed with a gasket, so maybe they used the same badge across cars, and the gasket made up for the convex shape. But if you don't have one on your 951, the panel would make you think the badge should be flat because there's almost no curve to the panel.

I have an NA nose with a big ol dent in it, I have only saved it for doing a rally light pod cause it's otherwise straight.
