I apologize if this has been covered before (I searched but found little):
Are there any common problems with the 992 Targa 4s, for example the complicated top mechanism? Or have they been reliable?
Had a daily driver 1995 993 Carrera 4 for over 15 years, thinking about another 911.
Thank you.

Not that I necessarily would have heard about it, but I'm not aware of any recurring problem with the 992 targa tops (yet anyway). I have heard people mention the cabin noise/buffeting, so you might want to drive one with top up and down before deciding. It does have a certain Rube Goldberg contraption vibe about it, with lots of mechanisms to potentially break, but there are lots of complicated systems on the car -- so who's to say what might become problematic down the road. A new-car warranty would make it moot for now. :) My former neighbor had one in basic black and have to say it was a super good looking car -- heavier than other 992s, but still silly fast. Not sure any 992 will hold it's value like your 993 though, at least beyond rare special editions...

Here's a similar one that's 64-years-old and it seems to still work just fine. :)

My favorite part of that video is the clear vinyl seat covers, just like the living room furniture in my grandparents' house when I was growing up.

Too funny. But often true back in the day. I cannot imagine sitting on furniture encased in clear vinyl. Tons on car seats back then - very stylish ...... Made them so very comfortable too, especially on 95° + summer days and sub-freezing winter nights......
