Hello I’m Paul, I am old guy on rennlist but haven’t gone there in awhile , it’s gotten impersonal. I think this is a great idea. I’ve had a 996 GT3, a 997.1 GT3 and I missed the 991.1 GT3 because of the stop build so I finally got my GT3 back in December 2017. Probably my last 911 unless I win the lottery. I love this car. In my mind the GT3 with PDK is perfect.

What’s the disadvantage of my earlier GT3s? Low torque in the lower power band, choose the wrong gear and you’re losing a ton of track to a stronger car. Solution? PDK. You’re never in the wrong gear.

But I don’t think the manual is a bad idea for the GT3 it brings a different experience to driving them . But I’ve had manuals in my 993 TT, the 2 GT3s so I was ready for the PDK. In fact I sold my 997.1 GT3 because I feared the financial crisis of 2008. So after it subsided I bought a 997.2 911S with the first PDK and I could go faster than some 997.1 GT3 s on the track. But I’m back where I belong in my very low optioned 991.2 GT3

Welcome to carpokes paulgt3!! We apparently think alike. I was a 20+ year member of that site too, even a moderator at the end. I'll spare you the (outrageous) events leading to my departure (spoiler alert: it ends with them banning John Dunkle, the founder) and just say it is awesome to have you here! You have nice tastes in cars too. Mine is not so different....

I remember something about that. Oh well it’s become really big and not as fun. Love your RS. That’s what it is right or turbo. The new 992.2 RS has me finally saying ok that’s over the top. I’d be afraid to drive it on the street. Looks like a full blown race car

Hey Paul,

Welcome aboard. I'm on my 3rd GT3. I've had MY11 997.2, MY15 991.1 and now (the keeper) MY18 991.2. Loved the 997.2, tracked it at Watkins Glenn, VIR, Summit, NJ MP. But my left knee eventually could not deal with the clutch and after surgery the car had to go. Been loving PDK ever since. (getting old just sucks). Not looking to replace the 991.2 anytime soon, as long as I can crawl out of the 918 seats, I'll keep driving it.

Hate to hear that. Sorry about that. :( I ripped the cartilage in my left knee a couple weeks ago (full thickness root tear) and haven't driven the 944 since. Might become the first pdk 944 turbo if they can't patch it up somehow. :wtf: Doesn't help that I have a KEP pressure plate with extra pedal pressure.

Ouch, that sucks, hope it it is repairable. Sounds like my issue, I tore my meniscus and all they could do was clean it up so no real day to day pain anymore. My knee is now a great weather barometer, I know when a bad storm is coming

Thanks can I see a pic of yours? I thought of ordering mine in Carmine red with PCCBs but I’ve had 2 GT3s with PCCBs and all I did was worry. I couldn’t think of an area where PCCBs would have made an advantage to me so I got white with steels. I thought of trading it in on a 992 turbo S but couldn’t find a slot. Seems to be the case these days. Porsche offered me a 918 but because I didn’t have $900,000 handy I didn’t buy it.
Love to see your car
