I heard that a M. Mouse will be replacing Collapinto at Alpine.

The government of Thailand has approved 1.2 billion dollars be allocated to bring an F1 race to Bangkok . It would be a street course and they want the first race to be in 2028 . Will be interesting to see if F1/FIA approve the request .

I don't know if the proposed street course in Bangkok would be any good or not, but it would be a fun place to visit for teams and fans. I feel sure that the Thai people would embrace F1 wholeheartedly.

I have mixed feelings about the direction of F1 and the Disneyfication of the events. I do not care about the girlfriends/glamour/intrigues and manufactured drama that seems to be the Netflix staple. Seems also that they dragged the whole F1 circus to attend the primes of the F1 movie the other day.
At the same time there is a reduction in the roles of classic circuits like Spa and Imola for the new, flashier venues which offer less actual driving excitement. Spa for instance is one of the greatest circuits I have personally driven and now it will be only every two years in the new arrangements.
So more of an entertainment and less of a sport.

Very true and, while I agree that much of it is saddening, that's the direction taken by many similar kinds of events these days, especially in the sporting world. Spectacle staged by spectacle impresarios, abetted by a digital world providing instant gratification. But even so, it's not all bad.RDMcG wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:46 am I have mixed feelings about the direction of F1 and the Disneyfication of the events. What is unfortunate is that those who don't embrace some version of spectacle are more likely to fail, thus fading into memory.
And then there's the money...
