Turbo Coolant Temperature Sensor test?

I’m not sure what mean or how to “short the harness connector to the intake”.

Sorry, I just meant to touch the metal part of the connector to the intake. If needed, you can put a piece or wire or a nail or something into the connector and then touch that to the intake. What you are trying to do is ground the the harness wire. Once grounded, the pump should go on and stay on for 30 seconds. That worked. I grounded the harness wire to the intake and it ran the pump for about 20 seconds.
All of the tests seem to point to the thermoswitch as the issue. But I still may come by this week if you have time in the afternoon.

For posterity's sake, Spencer stopped by and we tried my relay in his car, and it fixed the issue -- the pump came on as it should when turning off the car (and when the thermoswitch wire is grounded). With his relay, the pump would come on for 25-30 seconds when the thermoswitch is grounded, but not after the car is shut off. That prompted me to redo my relay-testing video to include both functions. I was also able to confirm the pump will turn on anytime the thermoswitch is trigger, even when the motor is running. I have not looked it up in the factory literature, but at least on my car, the pump goes on whenever the thermoswitch grounds out (and when you turn off the car). Here's the updated test video....

And therefore would explain why I saw higher temps after high load/high rpm runs!

Not to be Debbie-Downer, but that part of your relay was working ok, so if the turbo water temp got too high, your pump was/is still kicking on. As for as I can tell, the only thing wrong with your relay is that it wasn't running the pump for 24-30 seconds after shutting off the car. Also, the aux turbo pump doesn't add any cooling capacity to the overall system. It just prevents the coolant in/near the turbo from getting overly hot by ensuring it gets circulated and mixed in with the rest of the coolant.Spencan wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:22 am And therefore would explain why I saw higher temps after high load/high rpm runs!
