The 2nd article I linked delved into the DQ's, which is why I mentioned that the results and points I posted had since been revised.

As for Sargeant, he ended up in 10th for his maiden F1 point, "the first for an American in Formula 1 since Michael Andretti at the 1993 Italian Grand Prix."

Regarding the DQ's for Hamilton and Leclerc, the stewards' report quoted that “During the hearing the teams acknowledged that the measurement performed by the FIA Technical Team was correct and stated that the high wear on the skid pads was probably a result of the unique combination of the bumpy track and the Sprint race schedule that minimized the time to set up and check the car before the race,”

However, the statement that the two drivers and their teams willingly accepted the disqualification is suspect in my mind.

Man, you have to have some empathy for Sergio, such a tough break at his home Grand Prix. It was nice to see Ricciardo show some brilliance after breaking his wrist. I imagine there will be discussion on going as to who may take the second seat with Max next year, though tough decision and I would not wager the end result as I like both of these drivers.

So, Verstappen was singing "Viva Las Vegas" on his victory lap?

LeClerc deserved " Driver of the Day, " considering his brilliant last lap pass on Sergio, and one only wonders how the race may have turned out if he had not been caught on the wrong side of the Safety Car caution. All in all , I thought the Vegas race was much more exciting than I expected.

The race itself was definitely a properly exciting event. However, the surrounding hoopla was not great...Rolls-Royce limos for the top three, an endless amount of time until they got their trophies and lots of unnecessary ferrying them around.

I did not watch it but read a brief online recap from one of the networks at 2:30 am when I woke up in my most comfortable spot - my Ekornes chair. Haha. It mentioned that race itself was far better than expected, especially after the many substantial glitches and excessive hoopla that preceded it. (And, based on RDMcG's comment, more of the same that followed the race.)

Roman spectacle at it's finest. Nero, Caligula, Comodus and the many of the other Caesars would have been mostly pleased. (Well, except for the fact that there was no finále of lions feeding on the losing drivers, teams, and fans...that would have been an interesting twist.)

The piece mentioned the fact that even though the winning Verstappen had bad-mouthed the race all week long, he was singing at the end.

As a rabid race fan I have to step back and note that so much of the fanfare, theatrics, and drama that is occurring in F1 now actually started a long time ago with the Super Bowl and other sporting spectacles, so after a sigh and a pause, I have to grudgingly say that if it takes some of this to bring more fans to F1 I can live with it. Like so much in life, change is often the hardest thing for many of us to accept, and after so many years of struggling for audiences in the US, the last decade has seen a rebirth in interest here. Surprising to think that with Vegas, Miami, COTA and Indy, we were lucky enough to have 4 races in the US this year alone. No need to travel the World to finally catch a F1 race, we now can make it to an event right here!

Having more F1 races than in any other country is an accomplishment in and of itself.
