Yes, that plastic looks less textured (smoother) than the early 992 black bumpers. 3M does make tape for low surface energy materials though, which I've experimented with a bit. I have hesitated offering it, because it would be nearly impossible to remove on a smooth surface, but if you have any problem with that surface, let me know and we can try one of their fancy, low surface energy tapes.Norville wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 5:43 amIt’s lightly textured plastic. I’ve done a fair amount of adhesive testing over the years including double sided tape. I think this will be fine. I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, applied good pressure, and let it sit while we did the deal. Assuming the surface energy of the plastic is ok (not polyethylene) of course.Tom wrote: Sat Jun 28, 2025 3:57 pm ... What kind of surface is that black material the mounts are on? Some early 992's (and I believe the GT3RS) had a heavily textured black plastic that reduces adhesion. The .2 cars I saw at the show a few weeks ago had warts that were painted body color and therefore smooth as glass. How smooth it that black area on your car?
I have seen some painted, and some black as well. Not sure if it’s part of the Sport Design option or exactly what. The GTS at the dealership was black as well, so it’s not a model thing.
I’ll keep an eye on it.
