Somewhat long preamble but for background:

I’m in the middle of a standalone EFI conversion and a component of that was swapping in the S2 intake. It
seemed like a good while-you’re-in-there project but it’s caused some headaches. One of them is the airbox and air intake path. The car came with a K&N unceremoniously hung off the end of the AFM, and I’d hoped to restore the stock S airbox and purchased one for the swap only to realize that there is no longer room with the new manifold.

I know others who have done the swap use an s2 airbox but I frankly don’t want to spend $200. I’ve locate a suitably sized OEM paper cone filter that I can stick under the nose panel, but can’t help wondering if there will be enough on airflow to that area with the NA bumper setup. The alternative is to place some shielding and build a CAI that tucks the filter behind the left headlight — although clearance is at a premium.

One of the things that could help, and I’m pretty sure is wrong is the coolant hose that runs to the reservoir. Even if I don’t go CAI, it would make me happier to know it’s tucked away appropriately and not in danger of getting chewed up by the alternator. Can anyone tell
me how to reroute this properly or show me a picture of it correctly installed?
