Hey,
Wanted to find out if any of you are having trouble with TPMS sensors leaking during track use. Potentially exacerbated by the heat, mine have been leaking from the seals at the base of the sensors under the stem nuts. I have have a rash of them leaking and the solution so far has to be have the tire bead broken so the sensor can be removed and a new seal installed. Over this weekend I had several seals replaced and one sensor replaced. Some of seals that were replaced continued to leak.
I am using the aluminum stem TPMS sensors that are common on many German cars including Porsche. The tire shop said that half of the wheels they service have TPMS now and they are very used to servicing them with the rebuild kits.
On two of my wheels, I have swapped to rubber stemmed sensors as this might eliminate the chance the stem nuts were over tightened and deformed. When I google aluminum stems vs rubber stems the first result is that the aluminum stems are better however I have no idea of the context or use case this answer is based on. So I thought I would ask here and see what you r experience might be like.
I do find the tire pressure information very valuable so I have no desire to eliminate them from my track wheels.
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

I've had no issues so far - Apex forged or OEM wheels. Knock on wood.

I have not tracked with sensors on my wheels ever, but blueline convinced me I might want to try. When I was selling vehicles and we did alot of modifications it seemed like the guys tracking their cars were constantly having issues with sensors. Realizing that was getting close to a decade ago I took blueline's advice and order a set with my new Apex wheels. I will be interested to see if I experience your concerns and I will be watching after your post on a possible concern.

Never had any problem over five years and a big plus was being able to see what my pressures were on track.
I did have a problem with the batteries going dead on my winter wheels. I'm told this can be a problem for tires that sit for many months but I can't confirm that.

Thanks for the responses so far.
No one that I have asked in person have had trouble with the TPMS sensor seal leaking either.

I was looking around in my Launch X431 to test something for another user and then thought I would check out these new TPMS sensors.
I have long wanted to have the car show tire temperature as well as pressures and had a look and what do you know the sensors do show temperature as well as other things.
I am now on the hunt to see if I can add tire temperature to my dash display. Asked AI and though it gave me instructions for enabling it, the place AI said to change does not exist.
Here is a graph of my tire temps as proof it is there

Hey Jeremy, Tom has CarBot sequestered in his own sub-forum for the time being, so questions need to be asked from that sub.J-Dub wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 6:46 pm just a thought
@CarBot
Can I display my tire temperature on my TPMS screen on a Porsche 982 Cayman?

@J-Dub
So I was curious and went ahead and posted your question to CarBot.
