Hello all, I’ve used Blackstone for my older car analysis (‘66 Mustang) but my new-to-me Boxster needs its obligatory oil change & UOA, and I know other labs exist. Is there any reason to move elsewhere or just stay with Blackstone? My goal is to always use the same lab for this car so the history is tidy on one report. Do we have a favorite? Thanks.

Welcome to Carpokes!

Blackstone is widely used and well-respected. Although I've never used the service, I've not read anything negative about them.

LN Engineering is a top tier company who has partnered with the analysis company SPEEDiagnostix for testing. Both are well-regarded companies.

Another that is supposed to be good is Oil Analyzers, Inc. https://www.oaitesting.com/

There are several discussions regarding oil testing on Carpokes. Here is one: https://www.carpokes.com/viewtopic.php?t=2475

However, if you're happy with your past experiences with Blackstone, maybe there's no reason to switch?

Hmm. Maybe my best move is to send initial samples to two and see, then pick one for the rest. I’ve watched a ton of Lake’s oil videos so it’s hard to imagine his service isn’t incredible. Thanks

That sounds like a plan!

Lake's videos that I've seen are incredible. I wish I had the time to watch more - I feel he has the science down as well as anyone. I probably should get the oil in the GT4 tested as it gets run hard - your post has reminded me of that need. My go-to would likely be his SPEEDiagnostics.

From the reports I have had done Lake's report tests for more items than Blackstone . It's additional data to digest . Another possible option is if you have a local Caterpillar equipment dealer as they also do oil analysis .
