So I have an 09 TT and recently changed my tail lights to the LED Morimoto lights since I did when I put the car in reverse. It gives me a message on the dashboard but not all the time it’s sort of flashes on and off I also noticed that when it flashes on and off the reverse lights Disappear and come back. At first, I thought it was the Morimoto lights so I sent them back and received a new set and it continues to do the same thing. I switched back to my old LED lights and it’s still doing the same thing. Can someone please tell me if this has happened to their vehicle in the past? Better yet how to fix it thank you for all your help in advance.

Were the LEDs designed to work with your car, or just generic LEDs that fit? LEDs have way different electrical characteristics that old fashion light bulbs, which can cause a myriad of issues -- blown fuses, over-heating relays, confused computers that think the bulb burned out, etc. I'd probably start by checking the fuses...

So the Morimoto tail lights were designed specifically for the The 997 Carrera or turbo I had LEDs on there for about five years without any issues but now I’m having issues with the Maury motors and the old LED lights as well. The fuses can’t be blown because if they were they wouldn’t work at all when I put the car in reverse the issue is that when I put it in reverse it works and then it goes on and off so the tail lights basically work for a while then they go off and immediately come back on after a few seconds and it just keeps doing that while I’m in reverse only.

This being a month old thread, I suspect your issues are resolved by now. I also have the Morimoto led lights front and rears (997.1) and couldn't be happier. But...they do say in the instructions that they are plug and play with the 997.1 but that the 997.2 cars may require an ECU program adjustment by the dealer or somebody with a PIWIS. Not sure if the Durametrics will solve the problem or not. Let us know if/how the issues were resolved. Thanks.

Actually, no I don’t use my car much. It’s basically a garage queen but I’m due for a major service as I don’t use the car much with 18,000 miles on it. I’m going to be changing the spark plugs doing some of the hoses to have a bit of dry rotting, the serpentine belt, and my mechanic will be looking into the problem with my tail lights as well. I will keep you posted. Thank you.
