So I recently went from a 981 to the 718 platform. I have been autocrossing the 981 with the same wheel/tire setup for a while. I had a modest alignment done to the new CGTS (-1.4F/-1.9R) and assumed (I know....never assume) the wheels and tires would bolt right up. They did, however when I removed the other wheels, I noticed the front tires were rubbing against the springs. I did notice there wasn't much clearance when I had it up on jack stands, but I could still pass a piece of cardboard between the spring and tire. I guess under load, it rubbed and created a couple of shiny rings on the inside of the tires.

I don't really want to abandon the wheels and start over if I don't have to. Does it make sense to get spacers, or should I just have the alignment shop pull back on the negative camber? I would have them align it with the autocross tires, but I would rather not drive them on the road. Are there other options?

So you don't mention wheel sizes/offsets. Don't know enough about 981, but I autocross a GT4 and have run up to 275 Yokohamas(known to be widest tires) with no strut rubbing issues. Wheel offsets matter and where possible for best handling avoid giant spacers. My car is also lowered 10mm with only minimal rubbing at full lock(here at low speed maneuvers).

I've been running Oz Allegerrita HLT 18X8.5 and 18X10 with Hoosier A7 255/35/18 and 285/30/18. I didn't have any clearance issues with the 981, before or after installing the GT3 LCAs. However, with the CGTS 4.0 with the modest stock alignment specs, the tire shoulder is rubbing along the bottom two rungs on the front springs. The rears have plenty of clearance. I'm debating the FC 7mm spacers vs. going down to a 245/35/18 A7 up front. As I mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of spacers. But the change in tire will give up roughly an inch of rubber up front.

I have what I think are the same wheels from my 987.2 that I used for track day and autocross tires.
Oz Allegerrita 8.5Jx18H2 ET53 in front and 10Jx18H2 ET40 rear.

With the base model 718 Cayman I have now they do fit with 235/45-18 tires in front and 265/45-18 rear.

My allocation for a 2025 GTS 4.0 does look like its going to come through after all and I'm expecting that car by the end of September and am interested in using the wheels on that car.

I'm curious about your experience with the 718 GTS 4.0 and these wheels. Did you end up getting sufficient clearance with tires, spacers, or do you have any other updates?

It will depend on the rubber you run. I've since switched to Bridgestone RE71RS tires in 255 F and 295 R and have no issues. It does get pretty tight up front with the stick camber maxed out. LCAs wiuld make a huge difference.
