I am watching Porsche prices (the 356 thru today), and they seem to be holding firm? I was looking at both local Porsche dealers and the local ads. They say housing has decreased in value, and my retirement account is 20% down.
I wish the starter cars were less expensive. We need the younger fans to be able to afford one. I am willing to say that most guys here bought their first Porsche at a lower (inflation corrected) price. We worked up a couple of cars before ordering a new one?
Porsche prices are still high (need your tech)

I think an older Boxster can be had in the $10 K range. That would be a fun first Porsche. One best be very careful as I'm sure a poor choice could be a money pit. I also see 944's at track days so they can be fun.

I stand corrected. I think a new fan can get a Boxster for +/- $10K.RandD wrote: Fri Sep 23, 2022 3:38 pm I think an older Boxster can be had in the $10 K range. That would be a fun first Porsche. I just started going through the latest (Sept '22) Panorama and there are several articles on the 944, including it being the focus in the "Markat Dashboard" and an article about a car show class called 30 under 30 for people under 30 with a car under $30K. Over half the cars were 944's so they formed a separate class.
I think the 944 may be a fun track car, especially for starting out, since it's a well balanced front engine car with the tranny in the back and probably pretty even handling with understeer rather than oversteer at the limit. I'm saying track car but I really mean a daily driver that would be fun at a track or autocross.

I agree on the Porsche 944. I have only driven a Porsche 944 and a 944 S that one friend owned. He said the timing belt should be replaced with receipts. It's a interference engine.RandD wrote: Fri Sep 23, 2022 5:18 pm I just started going through the latest (Sept '22) Panorama and there are several articles on the 944, including it being the focus in the "Markat Dashboard" and an article about a car show class called 30 under 30 for people under 30 with a car under $30K. I agree that the car may have understeer over oversteer at the limit. It would be a fun track car.
