Get an inductance heater for that stud. Heat it red hot, let it cool, and repeat until it comes out easily. The temp cycles *will* break it free at some point.

I’ve suggested this video on several other threads. So you might have seen it. But I highly suggest to watch, it will really help you understand everything around wg and boost controllers. I watched it maybe 3-4 times before it all sunk in and made sense. The bulb will go on and you might be able to answer the questions you have.

Shameless plug, I have the A-Tune chip along with MAP sensor and Bosch 3 bar fpr. This will also help with down low performance. PM if you’re interested.

Last suggestion speaking from experience 🙂 just do the upgrades to a dual port and mbr, sport cat, and chip if you can (but you don’t need a chip with a Tial or any wg). Bite the bullet cause nothing is easy but this is as easy as it gets. you will like the early spool up.

How do you upgrade to a sport cat? Do you mean cut out the stock and weld in something else?

Yes. Or buy a complete setup from Fabspeed or Lindsey among others.

The MAP sensor that came with my A-Tune was terrible: when it began to fail, all the drivability symptoms pointed to a million other things.. then I had a unusual idea to test the MAP and sure enough, it was very erratic. I bought a Delphi replacement --it's for specific GM cars such as Fiero or Firebird-- and problems solved

You can buy Chinese knockoffs for peanuts and I suspect that's what came with the chip

Note that the official tech paper for it instructs mounting high & nearly horizontal to avoid moisture contamination.. hard to accomplish for us.. so regularly checking the voltages almost routine now

Point of the story is unfortunately, many upgrades add more things that can fail and make diagnosing issues harder 🤦‍♂️

A bone stock 944/951 can drive you nuts too  but I get your point.

I was reading about the A-tune. It's pretty cool that you get 3d mapping with their chip, providing your MAP sensor is working. Did any other vendor produce anything comparable?

My car is 1987 with the 24 pin chip socket, so I would need to change or modify my DME to use this option. Currently using the 24 pin Lindsey Maxx chip, which is pretty good.
