Can you please elaborate on "jumpering the feed to the fuel pump" ? Indeed my fuel system has been apart...

Make a DME Relay jumper. Fairly simple; follow instructions here:

Clarks?! You're killing me, Smalls.... ;)

I found a pic... but I can't remember which terminals they are! What's funny is this adapter I made sits in my car and the wires are so stiff, they keep their orientation so when I use it, is just lines up with the terminals

I took a look at that write-up on Clarks.. man it's complicated

The carpokes version tries to make it more visual and less complicated. And our version points out that the socket has 3 wide slots and 3 narrow slots. You can bypass the relay by remembering to jumper the 3 wide slots. In fact if you make your jumper with wide spade connectors, you can't do it wrong. :)

It's in the 944 Handbook, not a post.

I read the instructions about the DME, but now I’m even more confused. I’m thinking maybe that doesn’t apply to my situation. I don’t have any fuel in the gas tank, so the car obviously isn’t going to start until I put some in there. Do I still need to pull, or jumper the DME ? So far I have just been trying to build oil pressure by cranking the engine, unfortunately I haven’t had any luck with that yet. I’m going to try all the tricks I’ve read about and hope one of them work. But once I get pressure I’m hoping to fill the gas tank and fire up. If no start - maybe then I need to jumper the DME ?

Pull the spark plugs to let the motor spin faster on the starter. That should help build oil pressure. Plus all the shade tree tricks you've been reading about. The DME talk was mostly about not flooding or starting your motor while you build pressure -- which is not a risk if you have no fuel or spark plugs. You could remove the fuel pump fuse though if you are cranking a lot on an empty tank -- that's not the best thing in the world for the pump. If the front bolt is torqued and the oil level if full, you could also just start the motor and wait out those few agonizing seconds while the pressure builds.
