I just pulled the motor out of Soloracer’s 1989 944 turbo.
Lifts make things so much easier.
Rebuild time, cleaning and plating.
Getting closer to building all the engines together.
My 3.0L, my 2.8L stroker and 2.5L
Soloracer’s 89 stock block
And his 86 block in the pics.
The caster block is what happens to original piece with oil contamination.

Looking good. Motor actually looks pretty clean -- was something wrong with it?
I have not yet pulled a motor now that I have the 4 post list. Did you use the cherry picker to set it on the floor then lift the car up and off of it?
I need to get motivated on the motor front. I have the over-the-top motor parts prepped by Heritage (Jason Lee) and my stock 2.5 -- both begging to be put together. Part of me wants to go back to stock, while the other part of me wants to see what the Heritage parts can do....

Yes
I used my engine hoist to lower it onto a couple 2x8’s on the ground.
Then moved the hoist out of the way and raised the lift.
Motor developed what he thought was rod knock.
I found metal on the magnetic drain plug so we will see.

Dropping the motor out the bottom is much easier than pulling from top.

The engine was dropped out the bottom
When I raised the lift that was the car lift not the engine hoist
This was my 7th engine removal
Pretty fast at it.

I just did my first engine removal on this 87 924S that I'm flipping. Probably took out way more crap than I needed to. Just got the new rebuilt short block into it. Flipped the damn thing off, felt quite cathartic.
I know this won't be the last either. I might be 951 swapping a 924S if I get this 924S project.

How long does it take with the 4-post lift? I have a similar lift in my garage and would love to reseal my engine - I have oil leaks seemingly everywhere.
