I wish the gentleman making this video gave a running commentary, especially when using the diagnostic tool to actuate (?) the parking brake and releasing it. Was that necessary or just to make the job easier? Could a decent sized C clamp been used instead of the ratchetting piston tool? Thanks for sharing it.

Releasing the ebrake and winding it down is necessary to be able to push the piston inwards. Because the new pads are going to be thicker, you need to push that piston in. Without this procedure, you won’t be able to push it. You could remove the ebrake motor assembly from the caliper and push it that way but is just more work.

To push the piston in, you can use whatever you have at hand that could work. C-clamp if it fits is fine.

This was my first YouTube video so I didn’t know what I was doing…. :) In future videos I started to make commentary. Thanks for watching.
