I'm trying to get the air bag out so I can swap steering wheels but it won't release. I did this several times on my 981 without a problem but while the bag moves a bit it doesn't release. Suggestions are welcome.

Got it, just went back and tried again, popped right out. Thank for the reply. I've found many times in working on cars that when I hit a roadblock sometimes its best to walk away, and when I go back it is easy to move forward.

I've removed and reinstalled the bag severs time now and all was well until the last time, now I have the airbag light. Only thing I can think of is I didn't allow enough time after removing the battery cable. I thought my iCarsoft v 2.0 had reset it but no, still lit. I've driven some so I'll try again to reset it. Any thoughts?

Are you able to pull any specific code with the iCarSoft? If you let it sit long enough, I wonder if the connectors got fully seated?

No codes showed. I'm pretty certain the connectors are seated, the orange tabs locked down after I plugged in the connectors. I've done it again but I'm letting it sit a while before I fire it up. News at 11.

It's 11 somewhere...

No luck, the light us still on. After cranking it went out momentarily but then stayed on. Also, I locked the car and after a few seconds the alarm started . I tried it twice and same thing both times. I hope I haven't screwed something up. I've never had this problem before and I removed the wheel on my 987 and 981 with no problems. I don't understand why the iCarsoft doesn't reset the light. Logic says there is a fault so I'll pull the wheel again tomorrow and check the connections.

Ug, sorry. I'd scan for any and all codes and try to clear anything you find. The icarsoft may be clearning the a specific airbag code even though the light is coming on due to some other code....? Also, I've heard of the airbag light going on if the seat is too far back, presumably because it's pulling on the connector under the seat and causing a break.

I'm sure it's not the sest being too far back, I've not moved it at all. Connector loose maybe, but I locked down the orange tabs after plugging in the two yellow connectors, and it's impossible to cross them. Gotta get back in there and see what's wrong. I have to check out the new wheel from ebay anyway to see if it will work with only two heating plugs instead of the three on my original wheel.
