Hi guys, crazy day so late to the painting party. 
The bigger the part, the more opportunities for nibs, dust, etc. screwing up the finish. And these hoods have several big surfaces so plenty of room for blemishes, blotchiness, etc. That said, here's what I do....
I start by sanding the part as smooth as possible with 600 grit sandpaper, to get out all 3D printing marks, etc. I then clean it with a Kimwipe (no fibers to get in the paint) and rubbing alcohol. I typically don't prime, but some paints and some colors are the exception, especially runny light-colored paints (like white or yellow based coats). Right before I spray, I use an autobody tack cloth to remove anything that may have landed on it. When I spray, I get pretty close to the part -- maybe 4 inches? -- to make sure the paint goes on wet. If you are too far back, the paint partially drives in mid-air on the way to the part and you end up with a rough finish (like one of the small gloss black bezels above). The problem with parts so small is that it's super easy to flood the part with paint when you are close enough to keep it wet. So to combat that, I start the spray off to the side and move over the part quite quickly -- so the paint hits the part wet, but does not build up and run, etc.
And another thing.... here's a tip for painting these kinds of parts flat black: use black primer and forget the actual paint. I'd not as durable, but it's super forgiving and always dries to a perfectly uniform finish. And if a bug lands in it wet, you can just sand it off and add a little more primer and it will blend perfectly. On my 944, I've had primer-painted flat black bezels for maybe 5 years now, maybe more....

FYI I may get a Macan loaner as I get my 992 serviced next week.

Thank you for the offer. Measurements alone won't really do it for me. I already have a CAD model of the bezel itself. What I need is to have one in hand for trial and error test fitting in light of the surrounding dash pieces. I'm getting my new Macan in December and adding your bezels is the first thing I will do!
