What is this on our 718s?

This rectangular opening in the 718 firewall just behind the right hand bucket seat at about shoulder-level is WHAT?
It seems purposefully specific and is normally tucked behind a black plastic cover which is easily pried open. Surely someone knows and can ID it.

And BTW, there is not one behind the driver’s seat.
