Thinking of the later centre mount for the transaxle, does anyone have a definitive or factory-derived limit on how much play is acceptable in the mount please?
I've seen this question asked before (in other fora), people comment if the mount is worn it can wear the CVs faster, but nothing that really says how much play is acceptable. I haven't found anything in the FSM. The one on my car isn't obviously cracked but since it's approaching 40 years of holding the transaxle up, I wonder how good it is.
Wear or play limit on later transaxle mount?

When mine was bad I could literally swing the trans back and forth. The mount was likely original. Filled old mount with urethane (mod is documented widely across various forums) and the mount is firm, planted and power delivery and feel is vastly improved. There is very little movement and play in the trans now, so if yours has any movement you should consider doing the same.
I would consider it a must have mod similar to the F9Tech DME relay. Definitely something you wont regret.
