Starting issues or ignition switch issues on 986 2003 Boxster

The boxster that has been in my family since 2007 does not respond to the key being turned until the second or third try, then the car starts normally, but it worked fine for many years. I have changed the battery, the ignition switch (electronic part) twice, the starter, and tried about every other thing suggested doing online searches and talking to mechanics. I only have one key, but changed the battery in the key fob twice as well. This has been going on for over a year and nothing works to resolve the issue. It has not gotten any better or worse. Not looking for guesses or suggestions, I have tried it all. Really hoping someone else had the issue and got it resolved and can share the root cause/fix.
