Thoughts on my first six months with the Ferrari California T

I have owned my first Ferrari for six months. It’s a 2015 California T. Black/Nero with a brown/Iroko interior. I think the brown interior looked nice.

This was very much an emotional purchase. I have wanted a Ferrari since I saw one in Junior High School and would see one, every now and then, on the autobahn. Unfortunately, a 275 GTB or a Dino 246 wouldn’t fit the budget. This one seems to be scratching that itch.

Being a high milage car, from a Ferrari perspective, I’ve been working through the normal old car issues. This is not helped by the dealer in Orlando service department. “My” service advisor is a black hole for communications. Not a lot of info comes out. The dealer techs that have worked on the car seem to require two trips to the shop to fix the issues. In this first six months the car has been in the shop, or waiting to go to the shop, for about a month and a half. Not a very good ratio. To be fair, a couple of the times in the shop have been due to my wanting the car to be how I want, radar detector mounting and trying to get a modern head unit up and running. Now that my changes are working, it's time for the car to settle down and become a GT car again.

I do enjoy the car. It looks very good. It’s fun and interesting to drive. The interior and steering wheel design can be a bit of a challenge. The DCT is very different than what I’m used to. And also, one of the reasons I bought the car. The interior is very comfortable. Storage in the trunk is a little fiddly depending on whether the top is up or down.

One interesting about having this Ferrari in the garage is that my car focus has been diluted. The Boxster GTS is no longer my only car that calls to me in my garage.

I have never owned one but they always feel more special and exotic than my Porsches. Very glad you are enjoying it.
Maybe one day:)

Whatever the tribulations might be, the car nevertheless looks fabulous!
