968 DBW ITB Setup

Hey!

As I'm starting to post more on the forum, hereby something that I just finished;
For a client (DRS Development) I have created a DBW solution for his 968 ITB Setup.

The motor used is a BMW E46 M3 motor (which unfortunately is NLA) and it's currently the best / cheapest solution available for this setup.
I have tried to find different motors but was not able to find any so suggestions are welcome for future projects.

This setup does require a balance shaft delete, but if you're going this far with these engines, that's the least of the worries.

Please enjoy this video in my small garage with a set of R888's in the background

If you are looking for other engines that have ITB's to salvage from maybe look at the motorcycle world . Lots of inline fours there . Nice work on that project .

ITB are one of the sexiest ways to wring more hp from a motor.

Cool tech! Thanks for posting.

Just FYI, pictures work best if you upload them here using the Attachment tab. That way, they are displayed to fit the screen regardless of size. I redid your photo as an attachment to show you the difference. For videos, kudos for figuring out the video BBC option, although that was kind of a hack I added one day and isn't great. Videos are best here when posted to a dedicated and streaming video host like youtube. Although you used the BBC code as intended, with a 55mb video, it can take a long time for the video to play, especially in low bandwidth environments like the hotel room I'm writing from.... All just FYI as you get used to the site...

Very cool Bas!.

Have you seen these re-cased Bosch DBW actuators?

Yes I have, but they are very expensive..
This one costed me only €290,-. New they are about (if they ever come available again) €400,-

@Tom I'll be certain to use that image attachment function next time! I though this would be easiest but apparently there is a better way :)

What intake manifold will you use with the ITB?

Is the reason for balance shaft delete to make room for the DBW module?

Manifold will be a custom CF one for now, but probably aluminum in the future once he moves over to turbo!

The balance shaft delete is because of the possibility to ditch the belt and weight.
A big ATI damper will fix the balance issues.
