Special Porsches @ Podium1

Podium1 (a premier turnkey and custom racing sim builder) hosted a Porsche gathering at their facility today. Exotic Motorsports and Hagerty were also involved. Some very cool cars - I only took pics of a few but they included Graham Rahal's RUF, a Gunther Works car, Carrera GT or two, 918s, some special air-cooled 911s, a 962, GT2 & GT3 RS cars, a stunningly restored Porsche tractor, a 981 Clubsport with only 16 miles (!) that's now going to be tracked, and more. Plenty more cars outside the building of varying makes, models and vintages including more Porsches. It was a good time!

There are a lot of of photos attached and they're not the best - just snapshots. Rather than scrolling down the page to view them, it will likely be easier to use the new feature Tom added to Carpokes for multi-photo posts. Open just one pic and then use the left or right arrows to scroll through the shots. (I think the feature only works on PCs, at least as far as I can tell.)

GREAT cars there including some of the cars that are on my dream list including the yellow Carrera GT. Many thanks for posting . Wonderful cars of many eras. despite the streamlined nose will probably not go for the tractor, but glad it exists.

Great set of photos! I don't know anything about Podium 1. I have only driven one SIM rig and it was quite simple, I did not feel immersed like I could not tell if I was over braking or not braking enough... until I went flying off the track!

Did you get to drive the SIM? How was it?

Like you, the only sims I have ever been on were more than 5-years ago and the experience was horrid - they were quite basic and unrealistic. I did not try any of Podium1's setups Saturday but I am going back one day to give it a whirl. I did watch others and was amazed at what I was seeing. I am also really curious about their Pro-level sims. (No, I'm not getting a sim - waaaay too far past that at this late point in my life.)

I don't know whether you checked out their website (linked in the first post) but Podium1 is without a doubt one of the premier sim builders. Awesome systems starting at around $12k and up (way up) from there. Their current top of the line Pro-Level sim lists at $175,000 - you read that right - but is priced lower at the moment. I'd love to try that to see what it's like. From there they do custom racing sims and flight sims, so I guess the sky's the limit.

From the website regarding the P1 DDX Prime Motion:

8" of travel, 6 Degrees of Freedom, Seat Belt Tensioner with 2.5 G's of Force and more -

"The first simulator to recreate the adrenaline rush of real driving. Fueled by our passion for performance, we engineered a fully integrated racing simulator with unmatched realism and accuracy. Designed to disrupt both the consumer and professional market."

This vid of the 'Ring shows off their top-of-the-line pro sim quite well.

3 pumpkins in the same shot! I also like the scroll through option on the pics! Great addition.
