Panamera Headliner

I have a 2013 4S Panamera, in which the headliner at the rear of the car is coming loose. I did fix the side headliner with some spray and packed it back in and it works real well - however the rear headliner is more extensive and seems a bit more complicated. Is this something one could do on their own, or am I getting into a big mess with that?

Welcome to Carpokes! I won't pretend to know the answer to your question but in an effort to be helpful I found this video that shows the process. Just be sure to you take a Dramamine or two before watching...

Thanks for that video. Yes a Dramamine is needed however I don’t think I’m gonna be putting any stars in my rooftop. I’m wondering if a partial repair of the existing top can be done without such an extensive job. I’m wondering if I could just lower the back and spray some of that goo and that would take care of it because it’s only about 12 inches of the back that’s separating from the top. Thanks again.
hi i am having the same problem my 2011 S i have contacted a local shop and it looks like it will be apx. 1400 to fix the way i want it done. plus i think they have to remove the wind screen??? now trying to pin down the right coloring 4 a luxor beige headliner? thinking about alcantara? if anyone knows where to find real good replacement material please advise!!! thanks jon this is a great place to talk porsche!! lord knows we need it!!

Thank you, Johnny. The price does seem reasonable for the work involved, but I don’t think I need a whole headliner. All I need is a small repair and that will still be my challenge.

If you need to glue the drooping section, 3M sells a few adhesives. At least one is labelled for headliner duty. 3M 90 spray is marginal, 77 is definitely a fail in a warm car in summer. Follow the directions, do everything you can to avoid stretching the fabric. Best option is to completely remove the headliner as shown in the video, and do the gluing with the headliner on a large work surface upside down. Kitchen wax paper works very well as a slip sheet between glued surfaces as you let the adhesive tack.
You can 'reactivate' adhesive with a steam gun and some patience. Put a protective slip cloth over the steam head so you don't scratch or scar the headliner fabric surface as you move the steam head over it. Use care to not drag or stretch the fabric as you do this. I have the steam head, and would start with that before going after things with 'new' glue. A good interior trim shop should be able to handle the steam adhesive reactivation method with minimum risk of collateral damage. Removing headliners almost always takes two more hands than you have available. In my limited experience anyway.
