Hi,
I'm looking for a Driver's (left in North America) script door handle.
I accidentally broke one of the tabs off of mine while trying to service it. :(

Any help or leads would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cheers

I've been surfing to try and find theses and found lots of exterior door handles, mostly passenger side, and as far as part numbers go, the last one I could find was 944-538-905-00, and when I Google that number, it does not appear to have the script.
I did find the following on another 944 forum regarding script vs non script:

85 model year use 944 538 905 00 door handle (LH)
This is the one with the trim strip.

86-88 model year use 944 538 905 01 door handle (LH)
This is (I think) the one with the Porsche script.
It's discontinued and superceeded to...

89 and later use 944 538 905 04 door handle (LH)
This should be the one without the Porsche script..
It's discontinued and superceeded to...

944 538 905 06 door handle (LH) without stipulated
lock number

Sorry I haven't found what you seek....

Thank you for that detailed information!
I was hoping someone here on the forum might have an extra or know of one.
The script handles pop up from time to time on ebay. I just have to be diligent.

From what I could find, it seems as if it's almost case by case. I checked the PET and could not find any designation as to script vs non script. Looking at what various sources/vendors have in the category of new, the non script is all I could find here in the US. And looking at EBAY, I did see some scripted handle, but they were for the passenger side.
Best of Luck!

@ROB III ,

Thank you so much for all your research!

When I bought this car, one of the PO's had installed 968 door handles.
While they look "good" they just don't match the originality I'm after.
Several years ago, I bought script handles off ebay.
A few weeks ago I decided it was time to put those back on, in my goal of trying to return to the original exterior appearance.
While servicing the handles before installing, one of the tabs on the driver's side handle broke.
I wasn't putting much pressure on anything at all while cleaning, which leads me to believe it was comprised when I bought it.

I'm going to try and be more diligent checking the various sources.
It's just a matter of time.

Thank you again.

Cheers

I will check my decent stash of door handles to see if there is a good condition left side available. Those tend to be the broken ones of course, at least here in North America. Do you plan to use the lock cylinder you already have and do you have power locks?

Hi,
It would be wonderful if you had one!
Yes, I'll switch out the lock cylinders whenever I'm able to find a left (driver's) handle and can install both at the same time.

Cheers
