The bad news continues to leak out - first in small amounts, now in droves.

Reuters this morning - some very serious happenings. The utilization and labor cost numbers are horrendous - the real turmoil is just starting to be exposed. Upheavals are on the horizon.

This line from Reuters says a lot: "...complex governance structures, misjudged investments in EVs, poor management decisions, sliding revenues from China and Germany's crippling bureaucracy..."

As a reminder, a repeat read of the SSO report from the Financial Times “Future of the Car” Summit in London this past May by automotive top brass. The coming storm (or the potential for one) was stated then by those top corporate execs.

so what makes you think this is accidental on government's part? I think this is a concerted effort by liberal governments to destroy the auto industry. Then we will have to travel on government approved and controlled appliances. Welcome to the future

That's an Orwellian dystopia that all of us here hope never comes to pass. We're still good for now.

Shake outs and a culling of weak automakers due to many factors are, unfortunately, on the horizon. Massive over production from too much capacity worldwide (and from China specifically) is one key reason.

My greater concern is that China may lead on solid state batteries -this is when EVs get real. We are naive that this is just copying the West.

Also the idea of massive tariffs will simply open up the rest of the world to Chinese product and the diversion will be large.

The sense in Germany is quite ominous. Glad I have my cars.
