Being Canadian, getting away from the winter for a bit has become a yearly event.
We spent last week on West Bay Beach, Roatan.
Great beach, great vacation spot.
It is more rustic than some places, no chain restaurants to be found (we like this), but lots of good food nonetheless.
Roatan is a divers/snorkelers paradise.

Your contributions obviously do not have to be about Sun Vacations.

What a great picture, especially on a drizzly winter day! After traveling for work for decades, I'm mostly grounded these days with family obligations -- so I love this thread.

Wonderful photo! Perfect lighting and composition. And the free-hand painted boat name - that's about as good as it gets!P_Coastal wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2024 6:29 pm Being Canadian, getting away from the winter for a bit has become a yearly event.

The rustic atmosphere and your corresponding sentiments are greatly appealing to me - it looks like an ideal place to just get away from it all, and I'm talking more than just winter.
Unfortunately, much the same as Tom, being away for any length of time is more difficult at this time. So, thanks again for the serene pic and the quiet thoughts that it invokes.
We need to try to keep this thread going - there are many on Carpokes who travel extensively or live in other countries and could certainly add the content. That would be fun!

Another favourite island that not many people seem to know. This is Anguilla.

Awesome! I lived in Alberta for 17 years, so I have a real soft spot for these places.
This is a “sister” lake, Peyto Lake, in June 2023 just before we left.
