Is there a way to move the 981 into the 718 group? It shares far more with the 718 than the 986/987. If you go to the 981 forum it's mostly 986/987 stuff you have to sift through.
Just curious the reasoning 981/718 weren't grouped?

PaddyG, you been spending some quality time down at the Pub sucking down a pint of Guiness, because that is a stirling idea lad!!! Have to agree especially since virtually all the aftermarket companies list the 981under the 718 models years. Good idea and you might tip another wee draught for your grand idea.

I agree that the 981 is more like the 718 than the cars it is currently grouped with. I struggle to tell the difference in the GT4's sometimes, without looking for tell-tale clues.
As background, the 718 forum was separated early on because there were so many 718 people here, definitely not because the car itself is so different.
So, I'm happy to make the change, but wonder if we should put the 981 in with the 718, or if we should open a separate forum for the 981? Don't want to upset the 718 mojo in the existing forum (will it?) but also not sure how active a separate 981 forum would be...

Regardless of how the 981 vs 718 plays out....the 986/987 group should be separate from.

And then there's the notion that our 718's are technically 982's. I guess Boxsters were/are 986, 987.1-987.2, 981, 982 - four gens. Caymans are three gens - 987.1-987.2, 981, 982 (or 718). So is my GT4 a 982 or a 718? I guess it's both like everyone else's current gen Cayman, correct? In other words, typical Porsche obfuscation... or at the least, bewildering...

I think while the 987 gens have a .1 .2, they are still closer to the 986 than the 981 is to either of them. Even the 991 & 992 forums are together, why not the 981/718(982)? It just makes sense in my mind. Although the gens have changed numbers, like the 991/992, the 981/982 share a lot of things including platform and many! parts. There is a pretty big difference between 986/7 and 981/2. And really the 718 is name only.
