"I'm so old..." I used to read Sports Car Graphic in grade school. My much older brother gave me a Road & Track subscription in 8th grade. Which brings my point: I come with frustration that Pano seems to be following the path of Road & Track: A mix of Vogue Magazine and Conde Nast. And I hope contributors here are here to converse casually, and have a healthy sense of humor. My best.

Here's an ancient sample of racing journalism I rehashed in a post last summer. It's old! A wonderful pdf copy of the first issue of Competition Press from July 1958.
I wish that the CP's successor, Autoweek, would make all of the old issues of Competition Press available. I'm sure that there is a mountain of racing and automotive history in those early issues.

I think the old days of tech articles and Up Fix'n der Porsche have given way to the Internet (where virtually all tech info is a click or two away) and to the reality that Porsche is no longer a 'little foreign job' that owners needed to keep running on their own. I still enjoy Panorama, and have written articles for it in the past, but can't argue that it's changed a LOT since the early days.

Thanks for pointing out the internet's contribution on tech info. My even older avocation is breeding small, exotic tortoises. And the myths and disinformation from "experts." and all the amateur surplus commentary I see published (worldwide) makes me web skeptical. And it's frustrating to sift through all the commercial noise to find the real experts. But you are correct, and my comparison --herpers to Porschephiles-- is too strained to be valid.
