Yes, it’s your former pride n joy. We are enjoying getting to know it. It’s great to be back in a 944 again!Morsmanlaw wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:15 pmI knew I recognized that car! It's looking good and I'm really glad you're liking it.

CEW figured it out! Nice!miggytosh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:27 pm Love this thread!
And here is my 1989 S2 with just over 110K on the odometer. I’ve owned it since 2017 and picked it up from a PCA Mart post that was listed by a museum in Georgia that was storing it. The story I got from the museum curator - “the owner bought from the original owner to use as a track car. He never had a chance to track it, so he was storing it to hide it from his significant other, and needed to get rid of it”. No way to know for sure what the real story but I was entertained enough to buy it. It is not a high spec car but it is clean, unmodified (except for adding 030 suspension), and a dream on the road. Last year I was super honored have it be selected for the classics colors of Porsche exhibit at Rennsport Reunion 7 which was hoot. Bonus points for whoever can figure out what my license plate means

And right on cue, there is a 'Personalized Plate' thread on Carpokes with a bunch of creative examples. It needs a bump and your plate would be a great add!

Here's my '88 944S!
114k miles currently, in Zermatt Silver.
I've had her for a few months now. Has a few rare options like full power seats & 10 speaker sound. She ain't perfect, but she's mine!
Recent work includes rear brakes, chain tensioner & fuel lines.
On the docket: transmission mount replacement (I ordered a used one and did the Rennlist urethane fill), just waiting on some warmer weather here in NY.
and find someone to coat my valve cover! In another thread on here, you'll see the aftermath of a poor powder coat job. I managed to find another cover, but I'd love to get this one looking pristine like some of the others I see here.
(the bad valve cover... need to take a photo of my current one)
Just re-registered her as vintage to run these vintage NY plates. And even got lucky with finding ones with 944 in the number!
Bonus! A friend's 924S.
@NCGermerican I'd love to hear how you coated your valve cover!

Mine was already done when I bought the car. From what I have read, the valve covers don’t take powdercoat that well because they are magnesium. I think it’s better to clean them and use some good high temp paint and clear coat. You could check some of the 928 boards as well.
Same goes for the intake manifold by the way- it’s also magnesium. That I did clean up and spray with high temp engine primer, paint and clear.

Really great cars on here!
I am getting into the latter stages of a project on a 1987 S which I tore down completely, repainted and rebuilt everything. All of the work (including the paint) I have done myself with the exception of the machine shop work for the engine, powder coating for the larger parts and the transaxle rebuild (which I farmed out to Mantis Racing, as I did not have a large oven available).
Engine is almost complete on the stand, and will do back into the car this spring. Hope to have it running before the end of the year.

If you've taken photos along the way and feel like starting a project thread on your rebuild, please do so. Complete tear-downs and rebuilds/restorations that others have posted on Carpokes are always fascinating.
By the way, welcome to Carpokes!
