DIY-ing a Ferrari is easier than a Porsche. They are generally simpler designs, mostly for the better. The reason they don't get driven as much as Porsches is because they provide a far greater sense of occasion. Same reason why you keep thinking about the few hours spent with your mistress whilst spending the rest of the time with your wife... Every happy and balanced man needs both to feel complete, but owning both cars already may prove cheaper and less stressful over the long term.

At least a front engined vehicle is a lot easier to work on. I do ALL my own work on my Porsches (cars and motorcycles) and I call it an exercise in frustration at times dues to space and cramming it all in. Luckily, they don't need much work, just maintenance.

It's specially because of the frustration caused by lack of space and things beings so much packed together on a Porsche that working on a Ferrari is a breath of fresh air, as contrary to the Porsche they don't seem like they were designed by nerds suffering from technical neurosis. You should try.
