Yesterday my driver's side windshield wiper stopped moving with its companion. I haven't had to mess with this system before. What am I in for regarding the repair?

Well that was easy. The driver's side linkage had popped apart. It was laying right there behind the fuse box. I popped it back into place.

That was easy and easy is always good.
About 5-minutes after you posted your question yesterday, I typed an off-the-top-of-my-head reply but it was kind of low-tech silly so I hesitated and then got distracted. Here's the saved draft of what I wrote:
An experience back in the dark ages on some old rusted out Detroit iron that I had was a wiper arm connecting rod that was no longer connected. Removed the cowl and reconnected the bolt and nut and all was good. No idea how yours is designed but maybe it's something similar?
Glad that your fix ended up without anguish.

I created a 3D Printed Replacement for the now rock-hard wiper linkage arm grommets.
This Post describes the repair.
