The OTHER Porsche Museums in Europe

Yep..love the coach museums. Never visited this one but will put it on the list!

@RDMcG Such wonderful cars, the fahr(T)Raum ones especially. (Their placing their logo on these cars is a travesty however in my opinion.) That Hans Hermann is driving a Merc, not a Panamera is a hoot!

I am heading off this week for Austria and Germany. The trip includes stops in Stuttgart for the car museums, then a day driving the Nordscheife. There's a business meeting in there too, keep forgetting about that....

If you can schedule your Nordschleife trip away from weekends it is more fun. Also, during the week typically the NS is only open in the afternoons as the mornings are reserved for industry testing though there are dedicated track days at various times. Always good to check the schedule.

Finally had the time to read the Autoweek articles you linked. They were a fun learning experience regarding the Targa Florio, Vic Elford, Nino Vaccarella and, of course, Sabine. I knew nothing about Nino Vaccarella and not very much about the Targa Florio, so thanks for the 3-part series.

I found this piece that was written when Vaccarella passed away in 2021. A schoolteacher! Also found a pic of one of his few F1 races. What a good looking Formula 1 car!

Thanks for the tip. It being the end of the season we didn't have a weekday option. Hoping for clear(ish) skies and first runs of the day.

Great to see another Porsche enthusiast!

Except for Hans Peter's toy museum which is not far from Salzburg where I am yearly...

I have been to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart in 2015 and 2019, Porsche Automuseum Helmut Pfeifhofer in Gmünd in Kärnten in 2013 and 2015 as well as the Porsche Konstruktionen Werk Gmünd in 2015 where the first 356 was built just a few kilometers up the road from the Porsche Automuseum Helmut Pfeifhofer. And fahr(T)raum in Mattsee, Austria.

Other sites: Erwin Komenda's grave in Weyer, Austria. At Porsche's summer home in Schüttgut in Zell am See, Austria at the family chapel where the Porsche family is buried. Manfred Huber's OldieGarage in 2019.

Still have to go to Porsche's home in the Czech Republic and visit Hans Mezger's grave.

If you go, don't bring anyone along that will only last an hour; you can easily spend 6+ hours in them.
