Hi
Seeking input from the vastly more knowledgeable than I (basically everyone else here) -
Which is a better way to go - wrapping or painting calipers?
(Thinking about 'bronze/brass' to go on an amethyst panamera).

Thanks
Jack

I see no way that a wrap would hold up to the extreme heat generated, even if just mild street-type braking. Maybe there is a temp-resistant wrap that can withstand temps of 400° and higher but I'd still avoid it like the plague.

A melted wrap would make for a mess and be a fire risk! Also, wrapping a caliper would seem to be difficult to accomplish even if no melt risk.

"During normal street use, brake rotors and pads normally won’t see temperatures climb past 200 degrees Celsius, or 392 degrees Fahrenheit. However, track days are a different story, with temperatures potentially reaching 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit as the brakes are called upon more often and more aggressively."

Even though you're probably not going to track your Panamera, the potential street braking temp of 392° is still very hot.

Let's wrap it up on the wrap, absolutely sure the wrap will warp right onto said caliper. Speaking of the caliper you need a high caliber heat resistant paint to even keep that intact ---- I hope that was a tactful statement?

Speaking of hot brakes - there is an internet dude, Whistlin Diesel, who makes videos of himself abusing and destroying nice vehicles, one way or another. An idiot in my opinion, but he has over 6,230,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel as I write this so what do I know?

I recently saw a video of one of his latest stunts, supposedly unplanned. Unbelievable.

A publication I read had this to say at the beginning of their article about the event:

"A YouTube personality tried a stunt with a luxury car in a farm field — and it did not end very well.

On Aug. 8, YouTuber Whistlin Diesel posted a video of him and his crew taking a $400,000 Ferrari out to a harvested corn field outside of Waco, Texas, in 116-degree weather.

They then proceeded to drive the car around in the empty field. But soon disaster struck.
"

I understand that he's been banned by Ferrari. I can't imagine why...

Waco and Wacko is only separated by one letter, but considering what this Dud ( er dude ) does, one must figure he likely can not spell the difference.
