951 DME KLR Mounting Orientation

I recently discovered that if you google how to position the DME and KLR, most of the pictures posted elsewhere actually show it wrong. Lindsey has a picture that shows it right, but has even more that show it wrong. Not that it's mission critical, but thought worth posting. It doesn't help that there are so many holes on the DME/KLR case flanges, for reasons unknown, and that the speed nuts can fit over any of them. So anyway, here is the definitive Carpokes guide on how to position and/or orient the DME and KLR on the metal frame.
The picture below shows where the 6 speednuts 'should' be, with the screw holes on the frame numbered to match their corresponding speednuts. Note also where the metal spacer goes. (Feel free to copy and post the pic elsewhere if/as helpful.)

Once installed, the DME sits taller than the KRL and on an angle like this.

The DME also sits tilted away from the frame and KLR, thanks to the stand off.

And I'll post this picture from the factory Technik to validate the above.

This may be the "definitive Carpokes guide" for a 1986 turbo, but my 1989 is different as it has a sheetmetal bracket that fits over the DME that holds another module (alarm?). As I recall that bracket has an attached threaded nut on one end so one of the DME/KLR attachments uses a bolt instead of a screw and speednut. My DME and KLR are lying on the passenger floor at the moment, and I don't exactly remember how it was all hooked together, so your image should help

Right, I'm an '86 guy.

That said, the orientation of the DME and KLR on the metal frame is the same I believe, no?

Yes, the orientation is correct. Here's an image I found somewhere that shows the sheetmetal bracket.

This post really helped me yesterday when I was struggling with getting everything remounted onto the metal bracket. THANKS!

It's nice that you can remove the KLR (or DME) without touching the other
Anybody think to put some vibration isolation on them? Maybe something like the audio guys do for turntables lol
