Red Bull finished 1 - 2 again in 2023's 2nd F1 race, the Saudi Arabian Gran Prix. Fernando Alonso was 3rd in his Aston Martin but was penalized after the podium and moved to 4th. However, his penalty was reviewed and his 3rd place finish reinstated upon appeal.

F1 at Monaco this Sunday, May 28th with spectators basking in the glitz and glamor of Monaco and Monte Carlo. Watch the race live Sunday morning on ABC or same-day taped ("S") later in the day. (Times are Eastern.)
• Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix Race, 7:30 a.m., ABC (L)
• Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix Race, 7 p.m., ESPNEWS (S)
• Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix Raxe, 10 p.m., ESPN2 (S)
The racing may not be the best in many respects but the setting is spectacular and the rich history makes it special. Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren had a few things to say about Monaco:
“... there is nowhere else quite like the Principality of Monaco. From the super-sized yachts in the harbour, to the famous Casino, the Tunnel and the sun-kissed Cote d’Azur, it’s a wonderful event that has a historical place on the Formula One calendar." “Monaco is the ultimate driver challenge too, with the unrelenting Armco walls lining the side of the tortuous track. One mistake and it’s all over.”
Unfortunately, there's almost no passing at Monaco. The 2003 Monaco race had zero (yes, zero) overtakes for the entire race. Pole position is everything at Monaco. Passing in F1 is already near abysmal levels and the passing at Monaco is the worst of all F1 circuits by far. I found the following graphic which is eye-opening.

Rain would certainly make it interesting and would add a big element to tire strategy. The forecast calls for the chance of a few T-storms Sunday.
'The Drive' regarding Leclerk from 2018's Monaco F1 with an ill-timed change from wets to drys: https://www.thedrive.com/news/hear-char ... ire-fiasco
"... the tire mismanagement fiasco that potentially cost Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc from taking what would have been his first-ever win in his hometown was the headline story. Naturally, Leclerc was furious and some uncensored footage of his onboard mic was recently released."
Marginally NSFW audio on the video excerpt from Leclerk (released 4-years after the fact) regarding the ill-fated and horrible Ferrari pit-in command.

quali was really fun today. was hoping alonso would get p1 but max put in a mega last sector. maybe alonso can get a better start off the line tomorrow - max is not always the best at starts.
here is to hoping it is not a boring race.

Thanks for the update. Been outside doing chores much of the day so I never even turned theTV on. I'll have it on tomorrow though and will watch as much as I can of the F1 race and the Indy 500. It definitely helps that there are several replays tomorrow of the race in Monaco.

things got real spicy when the rain came in, pure chaos. i can't believe there were no red flags or that the final top 3 remained the same even with all the weather drama.
