991.1 Engine Mount

My friend has a 2014 991 cab that is now on its third passenger side engine mount. Car has Sport Plus. Anyone know of a particular issue with this, or is this a fluke?

Does the car have PADM -- Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts? I believe they were part of the sports chrono package on the 991.1 and are supposed to stiffen up the drivetrain via some electro-mechanical wizardry when in sport mode. I'm not an expert at all, but I have heard of those going bad and triggering PADM lights on the dash. Your friend might be able to ditch it and put a non-smart mount in its place, but I don't know that car well enough to say for sure.Sirbedevere wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 1:23 pm My friend has a 2014 991 cab that is now on its third passenger side engine mount. Yes, same item, different revision of the part. I have heard of failures, so they haven't been fixed. I don't think they go bad fast, I had them on a 2014 Cayman S and my current 18 991.2 GT3, no failures. The mounts are expensive if they do fail and you need to replace them, ~$1300 each.elm310 wrote: Sat Feb 04, 2023 1:53 pm I know that on the 992, the GTS has the active engine mounts. Is this the same thing? Is that something that goes bad rather fast?

Wow, I didn't know they were that expensive. I always thought that BMW parts were expensive. I guess when you step up everything cost double.
